Hi, have just recently bought a 1989 Honda cg125, its needs a few bits doing etc, Wat worries me is when you rev it in stationary it shakes the bike slightly, It soughta snakes and moves the handle bars slightly, Instant thought was out of balance somat or other, so I checked the flywheel, seems ok, Another weird thing is it seems to still have quite allot of compression when the turning the flywheel with the plug out Shocked, baffles me, but any help/ advice is appreciated.
thanks Danny

Hmmm that is odd, is the engine cold when you try an tunr it over with the plug out?as for vibrations, CG's are a thumper so they do vibe a bit, they kill bulbs randomly too, its very annoying.

check all the engine mountings are tight as this can cause a lot of vibration also has the engine been rebuilt lately as the crank could be out of balance

Well Ive had a Cg before and that was a field bike and that didn't seem to do it, but then again this ones older i think, But ill just put up
with it, as it handles the road Ok, Its ok Ive had experience, Used to have a derbi senda 50, It used to shake all the time at top speed, bit scary at 1st then got used to it lol, I'm not sure if its been rebuilt recently certainly feels like more compression than most 125 4 strokes have though, and Yes it was cold when i turned the flywheel with plug out, It cant be anything to major as my mate had bin riding it before me and it seems to smooth out when riding.
thanks Danny

My dogged CG rattled so much you could hardly hear the engine/exhaust over the din - couldn't see through the mirrors due to so much vibration at some revs too - still did 10k on it in a year without any problems before moving on though. Worth running over the esentials and checking they are torqued up the right amount to be safe.

when you gave my cg some revs on the centre stand it would vibrate itself about on the stand, not jump up and down but turn slightly one direction or another dependant on the way it was park.
