Very strange. Have you checked the gear lever tie-rod. Sometimes the locknut comes loose and it adjusts the lever downwards so that your foot holds it from centering the detent star for the gear you're in. When that happens you cannot select the next gear up.
Have you changed your riding footwear recently (got new boots?). This can cause the same as the boot profile can mean you need to adjust the lever. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

try greasing the gear lever where it goes over the footpeg spindle. GSXRs can seize onto the spindle when left outside for a while with no use. ____________________ Current : '08 Yamaha FZ1s
