Hi all, I have got a yamaha aerox. It's a 2005 model, when I first got on it you really really needed to rev it and hold it flat out and then all of a sudden it would take off and go upto 45mph. It has a ginelli sports exhaust and a Polini Variator Kit I took it to my local bike shop and the rollers were flat. They were 3 gram rollers in there. He replaced it with a standard yamaha variator and put 4G rollers in there he also put a 70 jet in there. He replaced the belt for me also.

This is the problem, I get on the bike and start to ride I no longer have to rev the balls off it. It takes off, sometimes it will get to 60mph on the speedo so real speed 50 or so! Sometimes it will not go over 10mph. I left the bike shop and got to 60mph got to a roundabout and stopped then went to go again and did 10mph!! It wouldn't go any more and then just slowly came to a stop and then you come off the throttle and then back on and it will shoot to 30mph then drop again. Then off a sudden it will do 60mph again :S. If I go near any hills it will slow right down and won't go over 10mph. Before I had any of this work doing you would need to rev the balls of it first time you set off. Then you would be fine it would do 45mph everywhere! uphill etc. The old rollers were 3gram but they were flat and split Sad Can anybody suggest what the problem may be.

I am taking it back to the shop on monday. I really do need to get this problem fixed. It's doing my head in. Is it worth having him to get the polini back on there with some new rollers? Or does he need lighter rollers with the yamaha one? It was like it wouldn't rev so high with the yamaha one on there. The thing I also can't figure is when you start it up from cold it's fine when the choke is on. Well it seems to be when the chock comes off your screwed.

Any help will be greatful. And hi to everybody on here.

oh yeah he put a 70 jet in there, It did have a 63 in there and we don't think it's been upjetted for the new exhaust. Do you think it should be bigger? What size roller do you think needs to be in there?

I think you should just give it back to him and tell him to sort it.

Some of this doesn't make any sense. The bike was originally running fine when you had it so I have no idea why he changed the jet for a larger one? Was the other variator worn? Can't understand why he didn't just fit new rollers?

It does sound like it may be running a bit weak but once again this makes very little sense if it was running ok on a 63 jet.

why would they take the polini variator off, they obviously dont have a clue what there doing

its sounds like over fuelling on the mainjet , check this by doing a plug chop , go for a small drive and find a nice straight where you can full throttle it for a bit, hit the kill switch and pull over , whip the plug out and if im right it should be black/wet instead of the nice brown it should be.

so take it back to them, get them to put the polini variator back on , and get them to actually check the mixture is right and they havent just geussed a random jet size and put it in , a 67 jet sounds more right for just a sports exhaust mod Thumbs Up

and make sure you dont pay for it , it was there mistake they should fix it for free Wink
