I'm heading to Santander in northern Spain tomorrow by ferry and not really got any plans on where to stay.

Just wondered if anybody had stayed anywhere bike friendly that they wanted to share?

Depends just how far/deep you are going into Spain , the place after Pamplona on the lake in the middle is nice , saw a few bikes parked there.

I cant remember the name but in Pamplona on the main approach from the south just to the right before the city centre and next to a small petrol station there is a big highrise hotel, 40 euros for a twin double bedroom with underground secure parking and a lift to your room from the bike Wink.

Was welcome after a long day in the saddle.

you can waste a lot of time doing that, and acheiving very little.
though if you have an idea for an end destination such as spending a few days resting in madrid, then ideas for places in between might be forth coming.

you could litterally spend 2 weeks on a mad dash around spain, or just spend 2 weeks in the north around the picos de europa riding some great roads, however I`m not sure how good the weather will be

Yeah i've been told northern Spain will be as grim as round here around now. The overall plan is too head south towards Portugal!

Oh well it shall be an adventure if nothing else!

You might as well follow my route then , in the tour write up , but only as far as Cuidad Rodrigo , anything south of there just gets too hot and unpleasant.

Infact in Spain once you get about 50 miles from the coast it starts to get dry and barren.

Welcome!

You have lots of hotels to sleep but if you want to know the real Spain you should use secondary roads. How many km do you want to do?? Now in Spain we are between 32 and 90 and, but today, we have had a sunny week Cool

Greetings from Ciudad Real!
