Has anyone ridden through a torrential downpour and found their waterproof jacket erm not to be so waterproof ?
Which one did keep you dry. (if any)

Thanks for the reply but what sort of rain condition did it keep you dry...
I have a Vanucci suit and it does everything on the tin, apart from the rain on sat 20th 2008 on the M6 .I did not get wet but some parts of me were damp.

I have a Hein Gericke two piece goretex lined suit - it is very good but does eventually leak slightly at the crotch as water wicks its way up the gap!(such as when riding back to Glasgow from the highlands in Scotland's very best summer deluge) but has been great everywhere else. I know Rukka are superb: a close friend has a suit but he he has paid a fair whack for it (close to £900)

I carry cheap waterproof trousers under the seat and if I'm in for a long ride in the rain I put them on over the textile at a convenient stop and they have kept me 100% dry.

My Hein Gericke Suit Jacket was @270 and trousers were @ 200. My gloves - Alpinestars Goretex lined ( not insulated) - £99 are excellent, As all goretex comes with a 5 year guarantee you can't go wrong and it's worth seeking it in your kit.

I know that HG have since improved the suit that I have, to include waterproof zips etc.

Best of luck in your quest!

Gore-tex jacket and you will be fine... 5 year warranty, so if it leaks (and actually leaks, check in the sink) then you can get your money back.

Ask in the store how the warranty works to make sure, but I am pretty sure this is the case.

Theres two
Sheltex which is a lower budget line of clothing
Or
Gortex which the price starts at around £240 Jacket £220 Pants.
Sheltex is waterproof but the membrane isnt as breathable as gortex so you may sweat and feel damp.
Also may require more looking after - as above post NikWax.

Dutch army issue goretex trousers.

Neoprene "parlour top" from agricultural suppliers.

Keeps me dry.
