As per the title really.

I was filing away the documents for my bike today along with the old tax disc, MOT cert and all the receipts for the parts I've bought. Even though I've only had the bike for just over a year I've amassed a fair few. My car has a box file full of receipts, old tax discs, MOTs, failure notices and insurance documents - mostly from my ownership but some from before. The only stuff I don't keep is petrol receipts.

Am I the only one who does this, as most (particularly older) bikes don't seem to come with much history at all?

I keep hold of MOT, road tax and insurance documentation. If the bike came with service info I hold onto it but I do all my stuff myself and I don't normally think about holding onto receipts for parts. When I sell a bike I give the new owner all the paper work I've got (bar insurance stuff).

I do , all of my bikes when sold come with a fat ring binder of receipts (to prove mods have actually been done) , all the past MOTs and all the old tax dics , and also a small log book of what I've done to the bike ie small things like oil , valves, sparks.

I tend to give them all my old sparks too..

It often stops dead any cynicism on how do I know you carried out this mod? , here is the receipt and the receipt of the mechanic I asked to do it.

Quite often I can show them the old part or bit that was replaced too.

This gives you a bigger bargaining chip I suppose in that many mods can't be seen clearly , ie the Africa had new front springs put in, he questioned me about it and I got the old ones out somewhat worn and the receipt.

No not really, it's only worth £750 I guess so history isn't going to alter that upwards much.

Car is (was) worth £4500 to £5k so I do with that for obvious reasons.

I'm the same, I keep receipts for everything and keep the service book up to date. I don't think there's any point in NOT keeping them to be honest. If you've got somewhere to put them you may as well store it all just in case instead of regretting it later.

if i remove a mod i remove the receipt though
