Hi guys,

I'm basically in the market for a sub £150 exhaust for the 929. Too many times i've had people trying to pull out on me because the bike sounds too quiet! It sounds soul-less, so I've been doing a bit of reading up on UK based exhausts and I know both these brands come highly recommended (higher than micron in fact). What is your personal preference for a stainless steel oval can?

I've seen a scorpion CF can on ebay, BUT it's cracked, and you dont need to be a smart materials engineer to figure out that any sort of cracks are bad... especially in CF!

Fuel are doing offers for £124, whereas beowulf do £140 - both are road legal with baffles, whilst beowulf also do stubby. Anybody own either and have soundbites?

Cheers guys

Tit

I bought a Beowulf from the NEC show but haven't fitted it yet. Looks like good quality. Very neat welds. I've heard them on a couple of other bikes and they make a very deep tone but not too loud. The name sticker looks a bit cheap but I think it'll come off easily. Checkout Youtube for sounds.

My mate fitted a Fuel end can. Looks and sounds good. He reckons it's not quite as good quality as the Beowulf I bought but then the Fuel can is a bit cheaper. He said it was a doddle to fit.

Both sort of local to me!

I have been meaning to take my exhaust up to Fuel to get a custom link pipe made and there can put on. I have spoken to Fuel and they are a small (not sure if it is family run, felt like it) business and from what I can tell provide a good service.

Beowulf are pretty local to but I haven't had any dealings with them.

Up to you I guess they all seem pretty much of a muchness.

Beowulf’s in brief.

Customer service is spot on.

Logo is starting to come off one of my cans. Not that I care, I’d prefer them plain anyway.

Sound is a really nice deep tone. Not race can loud but loud enough to make people turn and see what’s coming (had a women grab her kid as if to protect it when nailing it through town at 60 in a 30 zone in 3rd gear. I was just testing the volume!). Although I might have a play with the baffles out.

The plate welded to the link pipe that stops the centre stand hitting the actual pipe work was in the wrong place. Not a major prob as I was taking the centre stand off anyway.

Lifetime warranty.

Can't help much with Fuel cans although I know a couple of blokes with GSX1400's with them on and it was good noise.[/img]

My mate has a beowulf on his SV the quality looks better than my scorpions.

Check out Quill Cans as well I think there fairly cheap.

I would also keep checking ebay, I managed to get a Titainium Akrapovic can for my S4 for £135 quid including a R&G protector.

Hey,

I have a very (very) bad recording on mine running here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eC4FKr7Obk It was recorded in an alley late at night and my camera is rubbish so it sounds terrible, probably not even worth watching to be honest. Laughing This is with the baffle in.

You can also kind of hear it running (idle) in this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlkYmNS1vns if you turn it up enough, again with the baffle in.

I took the baffle out last night but haven't started it up yet, I can try and make a better video this weekend with the baffle out if you want?

EDIT: Forgot to mention I have a Fuel Carbon Fibre Oval can. Laughing

The stubby beowulf cans on my tl seem as good in quality as my old scorpion, and better than the microns I've had previously.

They come with a little blue envelope with the lifetime warranty inside.

Pointless me making a sound clip though, as its a twin, so wont give you any idea of what yours would sound like Razz

I just sold my FUEL exhaust and brought a "stubby" Beowulf can.

In my view the Beowulf sounds alot better because you can take the baffle out.

I have vids of each if your interested , but it doesnt do the beowulf justice sound wise.

You can take the baffles out of FUEL exhausts too, or wait until they fall out like mine did. Cool

The FUEL exhaust on teh Bandit (budget stainless) is good quality and sounds good.

Other alternative is a £100 used micron Ti on ebay?

Or do you reckon i'll be paying too much? Only reason i say that is that people's opinion's on micron seem to have dwindled, giving the impression that they are a cheaply made product... like ART?!

It fell out? Laughing Mine took about 10 minutes to take out, the nut and bolt holding it in place was so freaking tight and I had to use all my weight to get the actual baffle to come out. Mine was never going to fall out that's for sure. Laughing

(All of the Fuel exhausts have removable baffles except for the budget range, according to their website)

i took the baffle out of the beowulf in like 30secs. Plus the stubby can is a lot lot lighter than the fuel exhaust imo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6shXR5ZYisk

I have another cb500 in the back garden with a fuel end can on aswell if you need any other pics or anything.
I went to fuel exhausts to get mine fitted and there a great couple.
As far as i could tell the exhaust was really good quality aswell. Thumbs Up
