I'm car free at last ... !!! Traded my Caravan for a computer Sunday. So, now I'm officially car free. Although I've been car light for about a year. Only drove 2,200 miles since May, 2007.

Anyone else car free?

I only have the bike, but if I could afford to have a car on the road as well I would, no doubt about it. Sometimes kitting up to go somewhere is a right ballache. Not to mention the trouble I had getting anywhere when the snow was about.

Does having a Mrs' who drives a car count?

Plan is to get my Class B this year, if only so she doesn't have to drive (she will still, she just won't have to) and so I will finally stop winging about the Trike.

i own a car, but don't drive it, thats the mrs' domain,
unless we go on a long trip, then i drive, as she's a shit driver (don't tell her that) and not use to the twistyness of nz roads,
i have no real need to drive apart from that, wellington has bugger all parking, and what there is is expensive, the city is built on hills and the roads are narrow and twisty, so the bike is the most practical option,
cars have there place... but a van would be better Very Happy

To be honest I couldn't be car free.

I like having the practicality and the fun of a car as well as owning a bike.

Plus its nice to be able to hold a conversation and listen to the radio, also being able to have a drink of coke or what ever with out having to pull over.

I love bikes and will always own and ride one, but for everyday monotony its got to be a car for ease of use hell I hated riding my bike into work unless it was sunny and I could go for a lunchtime blast.

I'm in no way a weekend warrior, cars are just better for day to day crap and a bit of fun bikes are pure fun.

tl;dr

Car = Tool Bike = Toy

+1!

Didn't like the bus much, but I hoping I only have to do that a couple of times a year...

Also, LOVING riding on dry roads for two days running. Roll on summer when it's actually warm, too...

I was car free (not through choice) for ages.

But now I can afford to run one I do, just because it's easier for some things, warmer, more comfortable and practical than the bike (I don't own a very practical bike, though it is great fun).
