Hey guys, just a quick newb question, i just broke the zip on my leather pants so will need a replacement - can anybody do this or does it have to be done professionally by someone who specialises in bike gear etc to not weaken anything??

What bit has broken? If the teeth and carrier are still OK, use a keyring/paperclip/wire tie through it.

I had the zip replaced by a tailor close to me. £15 and better than the original

I replaced my own, cost me £2 for the zip and half an hour to sew it in. Need to replace whole damn leathers now Twisted Evil (and not because I replaced the zip Laughing )

How on earth did you manage to sew them? A ahem 'friend' tried to do it but the needle keep going through my fin.. er, 'his' finger rather than through the leather.

You need a strong thimble or something like piece of wood to push it through - and re-use original holes if possible.
A pair of pliers to grip the needle helps.
