No, a few companys dont publish the information available to the mib records.
It should only be used as a guide and like the internet as a whole never taken as gospol.

It reads off the Motor Insurance Database and it should really be on it. It's the same database the police use but is a different copy, the real one isn't exposed to the public internet in anyway. The askmid website DB gets a replica update from the main one but only has limited content. It's also less upto date than the other one.

Insurance companies have I think 7 days to get a new policy to show on MID however it normally takes 1-3 days for most places.

If it isn't on, i would advise you check your insurance docs and make sure they have the correct details (mainly reg no). If thats correct phone your insurance comp and enquire.

It's worth it as you may end up having to explain to Mr Plod that you have insurance when it doesn't show on his computer. Not much fun really.

Can't one go to the Police Station with all the documents and ask them to check?

Obviously get a lift though, you never know....

i was pulled over in car last week, they said my plate was reading that i was uninsured (but i am)

also discovered, when they typed it in, that my bike was also coming up as uninsured.

have now checked both documents, car had a O instead of an 0, and bike read L886 instead of L866.

both were amended by speaking to the companies last wednesday, and the database on there now says they are insured; i just checked.

so i guess it works!

You're lucky they didn't leave you at the side of the road with your car taped up saying you're uninsured scum.

Not that accurate, my new ER6f is recorded on there as a car. Rolling Eyes

Now according to Trevoriv it can be removed by the police and crushed regardless that I have an insurance document stating it's a bike. Rolling Eyes

<edit>A fair few of my bikes seem to be cars according to the MID, I must be a major criminal and in real trouble with the Police now!<edit>

And with regards to the MID, under the Fourth EU Directive the MID is the law. In accordance with the directive any vehicle that is to be used on a public highway must appear on the MID, failure will result in the vehicle being towed and crushed within 7 days should the authorities see fit to do so.

It should be 100% accurate but given that insurance companies have targets of around 95% compliance there is always going to be the odd one missing.

Askmid reads from the central DB as far as i am aware so if your insured it should come up on there.

If it's not on there either your insurance company is shit or there is a typo on the reg., unless the policy renewed or was incepted within the last 14 days.
