 |
|
Hi,
I have just checked my bike over(in storage) only to find a load of half eaten plant bulbs in my seat hump and little droppings everywhere.
I've heard mice eat through wiring and stuff,is this true?
I hope it hasn't nested in the airbox as i have just ran it up. |

Mice seem to like ariboxes for some reason.
I've seen countless pics of people's airboxes full of food and a mouse curled up asleep. ____________________ My Flickr |

Best way to catch a mouse is to put one of those sticky card trap things down and you'll get it straight away - OR - watch the film Mouse hunt for ideas ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

don't for the love of god do what I did to get rid of a mouse...
First attempt I used a sling-shot (one of the powerful ones for killing rats) that fires large steel ball bearings. I took aim, fired... then cacked myself having to dodge the ricochet-ing shot, man them things go for ages
Second attempt I got a jack russel, only problem was I think mine was from duff stock, he didn't know what to do with regards to vermin and so occupied himself by scratching himself.
Third time round I bought some £2.00 mouse traps, baited them with bacon rind and got the little blighter.
I now have a pet dog and an irrational fear for sling-shots purely because I though mouse traps were cruel! ____________________ 1977 Honda CG125

Many people find those sticky traps to be an extremely cruel way of trapping and letting a mouse die.Mouse gets trapped, and struggles and dies of exhaustion/dehydration. and you get some mice gnawing away at there stick limbs to try and free themselves. dying from bold loss.
A cheap way is to the a DIY bucket method. Have a big bucket.drill 2 holes at the top, at opposite ends to run a pole through. have that move/turn freely, or even slip a finished toilet roll over it, so that can run freely. Paste loads of peanut butter on the rod (or toilet roll). The mice love the peanutt butter. The mouse will walk up the ramp, its curiosity (or hunger) will eventually get the best of it, and make a leap for the rod/toilet roll ccovered in peanut butter. the weight of the mouse will make it spin, and the mouse will fall into the bucket.
if you wana be humane, you could leave snacks in the bottom of the bucket, to keep it alive, or numerous ones alive. then set it free over 1mile away from your home.
Alternatively if you don't give a ****. Pour afew inches of anti-freeze in the bottom so that the mouse doesn't touch the bottom. and drowns (either of exhaustion or cant swim). and the anti-freeze will preserve them, so it wont leave a smell. so you can carry on building up a bucket full-o-mice ____________________ -----------------------

I bought a bike once that had been half-eaten by a previous owner's dogs. They ate:
The seat
The indicators
The numberplate
The front brake lines
The wiring loom at the headstock.
Various & sundry other small parts
Took me bloody ages to re-wire it ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Well i checked the airbox today and everything seems o.k,my blanket covers are a bit chewed so he must be nesting somewhere in there.
Started the bike up and there was this loud "PHUT" and something shot out the exhaust squealing.....I made that bit up,sorry... |
