Hello BCF,

What the title says really, my bike doesn't start and i have no idea why. Its a Gilera scooter 50cc 2-Stroke engine. Liquid cooled.

Here are a few things that may be PART of the reason..

1. My step dad took off my exhaust(It had a hole in it) and maybe its not on properly, however it seems to be!

2. I haven't been driving it for about 3 - 5 days before as the exhaust had a hole in it so the battery could have died?

3. I put in some 2-Stroke that my friend gave me that i'd never seen before.

Ive tried kick-starting it, and it sounds like it wants to start but doesnt. Also yesterday when i was trying to kick start the bike a small lump of smoke came from the exhaust pipe...

I'm really lost here.. Any help will be very appreciated. Thankyou!

Oh and i dont think its the Spark as i changed it around 4 months ago but who knows.

First thing to check is the spark plug.

Take it out and have a good look at it, is it wet, burn't, black etc. They are pretty cheap so if your unsure just change it.

Next, with the plug still out of the engine, reconnect the HT lead to the plug, turn the ignition on, earth the thread part of the plug against something metal and kick the bike over. Is there a spark?

yup, i would at least change the spark plug for a start, there inexpensive, and its generaly the route of most problems. by the sounds of it that plug has been in there some time know, now you own a scoot/motorcycle you need to treat spark plugs as disposible items, like brake pads, tyres, cables, oils and the like. you have to keeps it in tip top condition to get the most out of it. get a new plug and let us know how you get on.
