transfering ncb with insurance companys

does anyone know a car insurance company that will use/transfer my 5+ ncb from my bike as hopefully i pass my car test soon, plus i i where to transfer my ncb would that mean i lose them for the bike then.

Loads of companies accept bike NCD. Just check when you ring.

Nope, only a select few companies will accept it.

I did it a few months ago. AFAIK the companies are: Churchill (who I used), Tesco, eCar. (maybe also directline?)

yes, if you transferred them to your car, you would have to start with 0ncb on your bike again

Why ? Is this not the case ?

NCB is usable on one vehicle at at time afaik.

No Claim Bonus is only what it says No Claim Bonus.....
Nowt to do with the vehicle.

Some companies will accept Motor NCB for Bike cover and vice versa.
The thing to do is call the insurers or the brokers. Smile

There's only a few companies that will accept NCB built up on a bike to be used on a car policy. I've listed them above. I'm not sure about using car NCB on a motorbike policy, but I think it is restricted. In theory you could switch between car and bike NCB each year if you used the right companies, and it would therefore make no difference where your NCB came from.

If you use your bike NCB on a car policy then you can't use it on your bike. You have to start from 0 again.

I guess so, but I don't know how easy it is to transfer from car to bike.

You'd be better off just building up some NCB on both. Thumbs Up
