I'm looking at exhausts on ebay for a Peugeot Trekker 49cc 1998.

first of all how would I know if an exhaust will fit onto my bike other then it being said in the description? I'm sure that the exhausts from other similiar Peugeot mopeds will fit on, as long as they look similiar right?

So this is the first question. What should I be looking to buy.
This is UK Ebay so if anyone is kind enough to scroll through the listings and give me a few cheap choices I'll greatly appreciate it.

Once I buy it I may need help replacing it Smile

something like this

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-SPEEDFIGHT-100-SPORTS-EXHAUST_W0QQitemZ260367013498QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item260367013498&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A2|39%3A1|240%3A1318

this would fit my moped. The one above looks pretty similiar so I am guessing it should fit, right?

No the 100cc exhaust wont fit a 50cc...

Most of the 50cc ones will interchange in the range though, but remember if you get a sports one it will probably need upjetting to prevent lean running, and variator roller weights changed to alter the engines operating rpm...

as above,
the thing with 2 strokes is they are specifically designed for a rev range and the motors port timings and cc,
if you chuck on a 100cc expansion chamber. the bike will probably run, but it'll run like a bag of nails as there wont be enough
pressure waves bouncing back or they will take too long and then the whole point of having an expansion chamber is wasted

yeah thats fine, but its not an expansion chamber, so you wont get any performance gains by using it
for half the price you can get
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-SPEEDFIGHT-2-EXHAUST_W0QQitemZ320344696469QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item320344696469&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1689|66%3A4|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

you'd probably gain another 2-3hp atleast
a sand down and a spray with heat proof paint and you'll be away laughing
