Tyre's DR350

So i have now got a new set of wheel's for the dr350 which means i don't have to compromise on tyre's any more Smile

So im after a grippy purely on road set where the back tire wont wear off after 10 hours use, and a set for down a muddy sloppy lane and some soggy fields (this set dont have to be f.i.m approved as they wont be used on roads at all or events).

However i have no idea what the tire sizes mean... so on the website i have no idea if they will fit my rims or have enough room in the frame for the wheels to even turn???

So if some one could recommend an on road set and an offroad set for a R reg dr350 se with the tire sizes i would be extremely great full Smile

There's three parts to a metric tyre size: Rim diameter, rim width, and profile/height.

The rim diameter is the most important part. On the DR (and most dualsport or enduro type bikes) it's 21" front and 18" rear.

Rim width is not set in stone. You can use tyres meant for narrower or wider rims within reason normally without problems. On the DR you want a 90 on the front and either 110 or 120 on the rear.

Profile is the height of the tyre as a percentage of the width. Normally 80, 90 or even 100 on dirtbikes.

So for your bike you probably want a 21/90/90 and a 18/110/90

im running Michelin AC10s on my dr, front 80/100-21, rear 110/100-18. road legal Smile

On dirt tyres you can generally take more liberties with the tyre size as profile is less important and they tend to be more flexible.

I like the Metzler Enduro 3 Sahara on my KTM for on-road stuff - can handle minor off-road slightly better than a road tyre, but has been fine on the road. Is a little square after about 2000 miles of motorway, but still working ok.

For off-road, I'd just go for pretty much any 'enduro' style tyre. Don't think I'm good enough to tell the difference myself!

don't think ill get an enduro tire as they tend to have a block depth limit i believe and the stuff i'm riding through is ridiculously muddy Smile

but the info on tire sizes is greatly appreciated
