Hi, Firstly i'm new to the forums. so Hi everybody!

and wanted to start off with a few questions, after a bit of advice etc before buying.

I Currently have a Yamaha yzf r6 (W Reg 2000 model, with 20,000 miles)

I've had it since november, mainly got it because it was cheap, and affordable at the time. Now the spring is approaching, i'm looking for something to replace her.

I've been looking at a bike in my local shop (Details are as follows)...

It's a ZX 636, B1H. 2004 (on a 54 plate) with 9000 miles on the clock. with the Datatool system 3 alarm and immobilizer on (Black with the titanium/silver colour frame) Priced at £3500 and in good condition. no obvious markings unless under closer inspection. no dents etc...

Anyways, the few questions i was wanting to ask.

Is the bike reasonably priced?
Will i notice much acceleration difference between the two
If so, which bike will be faster?
and i've read that it's suspension is a bit stiff and rigid. will it feel uncomfortable on trips less than 100 miles?

And Finally. bit of a stupid / lengthy question.

The bike has no Ninja written under it's pillion seat, and it hasn't got ZX6R written on it's side (as they normally do as far as i'm aware) could this be a sign that it's been damaged and had a new fairing put on?

Anyways, thank's for any help

Andy.

yes it will be faster, but not an awful lot.

3500 is probably the higher end of the price scale now.

its common to remove the stickers (especially on the black ones) however this warrants a further check for damage just incase there were other reasons for them not being there.

Definitely over priced, get on over to www.McnNinjas.co.uk there were a couple for sale on there, like this one: https://www.mcnninjas.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=75315.0 as well as a couple of other ones. There are a few newer bikes around there for that price bracket.

The B1 will feel a fair bit faster as it will have more midrange and will have more power top end.

Rear shock can be a bit on the firm side

little bit expensive mate i paid 3300 for an 05 plate with 6000 miles this was from a friend of a friend. My bro rides a w plate R6 and the mid range on the 636 is far better in my opinion best of luck with your choice anyway

your r6 will have more of a top end kick than the ninja, but the ninja will have more mid range and handle better.
if you ride like a twat get an r6, if you like a hoon every now and again get the kwaker.
if you can knock him down for 3k it should be ok.

The words were top end kick. That's salesman speak for the bike has fuck all midrange. Laughing

On the price I recently paid 3.4k from a dealer, completely standard bike, FSH, 2004 model in blue, so yes it is slightly overpriced.

dont care what you want to say. have a drag race. your choice of any 08 sports 6 vs a 2000 r6. There wont even be a bikes length in it over a 1/4 mile drag.
Which means its all about how the bike feels.
0-60 times

99-02 r6 3.45 seconds
and the zx6r thats even newer than the one were talking about 3.39 seconds

Fairy nuff, was just curious and a bit surprised at the inference that the B1 was not a hooligan machine Karma

Thank's for the help guys, i'll probably go for the 636, either in green or black, not sure of the colour just yet, but, i'll look for a better offer.

i Originally was planning on buying a brand new R6 (Black and gold)

the dealer said he would give me £1400 for my CBR, and £1900 for my R6 (looking for more than this from the two though)

so i'd be looking to pay £3900. i'd be wanting to pay cash up front. but they's the option to get it on finance (0% apr) over 2 years. which works out at... £162 a month.

but then insurance is my problem, i'd want fully comp on a brand new bike. (so based on this alone, i decided to go for an older bike)

I paid £3500 for my b1h with 4000 miles on the clock with a years warranty from a dealer but its condition was/is like a new bike.
If you like it try and knock a few hundred quid off it and get the years guarantee.
I went from a gsxr 1000 to the zx6r and I find the suspension a lot harder but better for it I also had a gsxr 600 k3 and the 636 is a fair bit faster in a straight line and would destroy it through the twisties (in my opinion) never had a r6 so I cant compare it to that .

And the b1h looks better Thumbs Up
