HEL brake line

I bought a new front disc and brake pads for my xt600e and thought I would replace the brake line with a stainless steel braided one.

I bought a HEL line from Wemoto.

Just held it in position and followed the same route and it is about 11 inches too long.

Are these ok to cut down to length? Will I be able to fit the banjo bolt into the end of the line after cutting?

I don't think it's a good idea to have too much extra line.

No you can't just cut them down.

11 inches is a hell of an extra length though

Did you buy the right line? See if it is the same length as the rear stock line. If not, send it back for a replacement? Dont think cutting brake hoses sounds like a good idea!

I ordered it from Wemoto with a new disc and brake pads.

It does say XT600E on the package but it's clearly too long.
I measured it accurately and it is 8 1/4 inches or 21cm too long.

I emailed HEL who offered to send me a replacement.

The rear one is tiny compared to the front.
I got that a few months back from another company, thats a couple of inches too long also but I fitted it anyway.

I got a new front line 'custom' made by Hel for a Honda CG125 about four months ago. It fitted perfectly.
I also fitted a kit to the front of a Triumph Sprint ST. The supplied kit Master cylinder Banjo was not very nice so I called HEL and asked if they could make me the same hose but with an off-set Banjo end. No problem they took the original kit and swapped for my specification.

HEL lines have a HEL sleeve over the line if not then it may not be HEL.
Email them they are very HELpful.

You can't cut the hose and rejoin this would destroy the hose. Unless you have a new end to 'crimp' on in a hose press.

Persevere with it as braided line are much better than stock.

I got my Hel lines from Wemoto the other day. They look about the right length I'm going to be fitting them this week sometime so will let you know.

What colour/end colours did you go for?

Hel make their lines by hand as do goodridge, i bought some for my ShitRAD and they where wrong, send them back inform of the wrong size and then get yours.
