First sunday of dry roads and relatively warm weather and the first of the weekend warriors begin to resurface.
We went for a drive today and alone on the A48 there were 2 bike crashes, first was a white ducati 848. Seems to have lost it on a corner all on his own. The second was at the traffic lights in chepstow. Brand new ZX10R Hit the back of a stationary car.

Saw so many bikers out today, it was a nice sight to see after the snow and shite of the last few months, but the amount of them on litre sportsbikes in summer leathers, riding like it was august was amazing! The thing is the roads around here are actually still very greasy in places, and the dry parts are white with road salt!

Careful out there peeps.

Was a good weekend - perfect for taking my mates 2 up and showing the local roads. My mate almost shat himself under the power of the bike cos he hadn't been on the back of any bike before, so jumping straight onto a blade with the tot at the helm for him was like playing a game with russian roulette! But any prejudices my mates had about biking have been erased. They all felt reassured and safe; predicted and knew exactly what I was doing... but that wasn't to say the ride was without any hitches.

Had a gixxer thou K8 rider up my arse trying to overtake a row of traffic when it was blatantly impossible due to the oncoming traffic. Had a pillion with me only wearing jeans so i wasn't going to take the piss and no way was I going to get bullied out of the way by mister blue gixxuh! pulled in slightly and indicated for him to "cum and ave a go if ya think yer ard enough!" Well the invitaiton was there to overtake and he decided not to. When it was clear enough, cue roadcracft checklist

Off i went...

looked in my mirros and mister gixxer held back... then as i was gauging the road up ahead, i saw him pull an overtake in the most inappropriate places... trying to do over the last few cars and myself. Overtook me on the roundabout like as if he had a point to prove.

Sometimes i wonder why my insurance on the blade is high... cos most litre bikes are ridden by twats who've got a midlife crisis and have more money than sense.

Fair enough i went on a spirited ride 2 up, but that doesn't mean that I've got to prove myself to other nobends who think that they can "outride you". But it was nice to see a buttload of bikers riding through the glorious roads of east midlands.

But yeah, if you think you're a safe rider, most accidents are either down to n00bish actions, or other twats not paying attention; it's not often cagers though, which is a terrible shame.

Accidents are not the only "silly" thing about this season, some of the uk is predicted heavy snow in the week ahead!

I really can't stand the english weather Laughing

Was a crash near mine yesterday, a guy was overtaking cars in a 30, doing 60-80mph, and a micra pulled out and hit him... Police, fire, amblances... If that wasnt enough he got picked up in a helicopter. They were treating him by the road for 45mins, the bike was a total state...

I'd say he was lucky to be alive.

Really though, double the speed limit in a 30...

I've seen more bikes on the road this weekend on a trip to the supermarket, etc, than I've seen in the last two months. Commuting day in day out throughout thwe winter months, I could count fellow bikers on my hands.

All bikers still ignore me, though, on my weather beaten ybr. I'm a lesser rider you see - becuase I've got a small bike.

Pathetic really, isn't it. I pass the same people every day on the way to work. If I'm riding one bike, everyone nods a welcome, when I'm riding another, blatent ignorance.

Well lufbra was like the sound of rolling thunder... endless numbers of V twins hooning it out of the A6.

To be fair, there was a good number of VFR/triumph sprint riders out as well as your typical supersports riders.

But yeah, i think some people who've only been out THIS weekend aren't aware that the raods are still full of farmers muck and stuff like that.

Mr Nice Guy - i've got some roadsmarts fitted to my FireBlade Wink ... yes. my fireblade.. it may only be a 929, but it's MY FIREBLADE Razz

There were some right plokers out last weekend too. I went up Hartside pass with the girlfriend for lunch. On a bit of dual carriageway near penrith I saw someone on a GSXR6 pull out across the nose of a car that was going a fair bit faster than him. No obs, no indication.

Luckily both myself following behind and the driver of the car he carved up had our precognition fully engaged. I'd already backed way off because I had a feeling he was going to try and go. He clearly hadn't seen me and I was going to go after the car. This left the car time and space to floor the brake pedal and steer across into my lane, going up the inside of him on the brakes about half the length of the bike. He never even noticed.

I also overtook a very clean and shiny BMW R1200GS on 58 plates while coasting back down the pass with my engine off.

I always miss weekend riders, the weekends are the only time I work, and I usually do earlys, so 6am-3pm... Therefore missing all the happenings and bikes.

Err we looked like a bunch of bum bandits - 2 up clad in expensive alpinestars lol... yes it doesn't really help the fact that i'm trying to convince people that I aint a homo... particularly when i'm having lads on the back all the time. That said, Next time, i think the both of us shud just ride squiddy style - topless.. it'll get all the ladies attention

If it weren't for the fact that i was wearing my full suit and rob was wearing my jacket and jeans, we wouldn't look as homosexual blipping the blade thru campus Wink

Gonna try the tanktop or topless thing in campus for jokes

I was almost one of the silly statistics of the weekend. Took a corner far too fast and came round riding on the white lines in the middle, meeting another biker coming the other way. He must've thought I was a right pratt, and he'd be right, just lucky artic' lorrys aren't allowed on that road.
Ten minutes later I had a straight line superhero on a blue and white Gixxer thou (hadn't seen too many Gixxers until this weekend Rolling Eyes hmmm) overtake me just after a sharp corner before the twisty bits, not a good place to overtake as there is no view of the road ahead. Almost caught up with him (not that I was trying tbh) but got to a long straight, and he dissapeared (33bhp and abiding loosely to the law is tough) Sad they really are the Impreza drivers of the bike world. Took the rest of the afternoon easy though as I don't wear glasses in winter as they steam up (don't worry safety nazis, I'm not ridiculously blind).

Seriously bad memories.

While attending a local party me and my bud thought it would be really funny to ride my bike up and down the street naked.

Bleach, drugs and alcohol will never remove the feeling of a penis touching your bottom for the first time.

Riding all year round has so many benefits don't you think.

As mentioned today was a busy day for bikers, i happened across plenty of part time nob 'eads today. Lots of all the gear n no idea types. Saw dangerous overtakes a plenty. Piss poor filtering bordering on agressive. Really really shite cornering (from the middle of the lane type to the apex every corner like a motoGP ace..err... Not)
As i live near the Cat n Fiddle run and i get to see lots of really nice bikes during a good weekend, and then i see them in Cheshire Salvage during the week Rolling Eyes
I understand why people have a bike for a sunny day blast, but riding all year means i cherish the dry days all the more and i'm never rusty, besides that i have a better idea of grip levels.

Bah its snowing outside at the moment.

Sunny all week and now snowing.

But when I went to pick my bro up from work I was doing doughnuts and getting the jeep sideways for about 30mins.

Good fun.

who gives a fuck! theyre haveing fun which is all that matters! .

Fair enough, they're having fun... until the point where they stack the bike. U say that to yourself when you see a bike in a bush and rider by the side. Pyschologically you think "That could have been me" or "That accident was preventable"... They're having fun... until they make a mess all over the A6006? Yeah... fair enough city boy! Karma Thumbs Up I'm not trying to preach or imply that i'm a competent rider, but i've found that at worst, cockiness can kill.

Your number will be called if you carry on thinking like that. Riding a bike aint as simple as "riding a bike"... Being me, i tend to have a karma filled philosophical approach to life in light of recent events.
