x rings have 2 contact patches on the chain plates and should have better sealing and lead to a longer life over the O ring that has one larger contact patch.
There may be benefits that the x rings have less friction so rob less power during transmission to the rear wheel.
In the real world you would never notice the power difference, its probably the equivalent of having a good shit for weight saving
I'd personnaly stick an o ring on there, they last as long as your sprockets will ever last and you wont put a new chain on old sprockets.
you pays your money........................ |

I put an X ring on my ER5, all I noticed was it had rusted within a week of getting it, my bad for not cleaning it after a motorway ride which was being heavily gritted in rain but still. Also I think because the chain was a bit cheap it didn't last well. Saying that I'm still using it now and it works. ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R. Present: 97 ER-5.
