just a quick one i have a 05 plate 636 which needs a service it has full history up to now with 9500 miles havin played with cars and bikes for years am thinkin about doing the service myself whats peoples thoughts on not keeping the book stamped and do you think it will put people off when i sell it on cheers chris

depends how long you are going to keep the bike IMO.

if you intend on keeping it for 10 years and 75K miles then the dealer service history wont make a great deal of difference.

If you want to sell it at the end of the summer with 10.5 K then it may make some difference.

Just be able to prove that what you have done is roughly a bit like what the dealer would be doing.

the bike i bought at the end of last year came with a pile of receipts and I was content that the servicing had been done, however when I sent it for a major service it turns out the difficult stuff to do (bleeding the brakes and clutch fluid, its a BMW and is nowhere near as easy as it sounds) had never been done, fortunately the milage is low enough that it didn't really make much difference.

change the oil + filter, grease up the cables and check the day to day stuff over extra well and it'll be fine.
