I had to take my coils off the other day to reseat the rocker cover gasket on my gpz750r, I then put it back together (with the wiring correct) and it wouldnt start. however putting the LT leads to the opposite coils results in the engine firing up first time.

a side effect to this, is my tacho (driven off the black LT lead, although not pictured in the diagram) has now stopped working/is going in reverse, I cant really tell, it does nothing then shakes at high revs almost as if its bouncing off the needle stop.

is there any way my pickup coils have somehow got the polarity reversed?

here is the ignition system diagram.

stinkwheel Well I just had my hands up a pigs fanny. Which makes your concerns pale into insignificance.
