fork seals

hi all

i had the fork seals changed on the suzuki may last year and it seem like they are starting to go again so im wondering how long are they surposed to last before they need changing again

the bikes only done about 2k miles since then aswell

Not that quick,are your stanchions free of rust or pitting?

Check the fork stanchions (prollyly spelt that wrong), they may be pitted causing the seals to leak when under compression.

Seals are supposed to last a hell of a lot longer then 2000 miles. Did mine on the old thundercat and 8k later they were still good as new.

i had it out today and its chucking fluid up out of the seals but i'll look for any dust or crap in the way of them

If the stanchions are clean and blemish free then it could be the bushes, too much wear and the tubes can move sideways a touch and cause a leak. The other thing is were they OE Suzuki seals that were used?. Some aftermarket ones are OK but I did a couple of 600 Bandits for mates using aftermarket ones they'd got (both different makes) and they both leaked, one shortly after, one a year or so later, replaced them using Suzuki ones as everything else seemed OK and there were no further problems. The Suzuki ones were about the same price as aftermarket as well.

Its always the top bushes that need changing , if they bust without rot on the fork legs.

a quick update on it, i looked at the fork legs and they seem to be crap free and no dents or anything, i also cleaned off the fluid that was on there from the other day and took it out to see if it leaks again and they did so it looks like the seals have gone again gonna have to find some suzuki ones i think
