*For the benefit of anyone who doesn't check out the workshop section that regularly,
becuase I've spent a while writing this up I thought I might aswell take advantage of the catergories I can post it in. Mr. Green
RVF/ VFR owners: So far I can recomend this product, look for Lannatwin on ebay,
I will update after the fitting with a fresh batch of piccies and in a months or so time when I try them out. Thumbs Up

Well we can call it 9 days in the post, from Thailand so not bad at all... Finally they arrived today!
Excitment!

Super Dooper packed, very pleased so far.
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets002.jpg
A first glimpse of the goods...
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets005.jpg
As you can see they really do look the part...
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets006.jpg
As for finish
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets010.jpg
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets011.jpg
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets012.jpg
There are a few small nicks and scratches though to be honest I'm not even bothered by them, the finish is smooth and even with a nice blued effect.
I am very pleased with the product, the lines are sleek and organic and I think the quality is great.
The rearsets are'nt totally without faults, there is a small ammount of play in the levers from where they are mounted by the bearing.
I'm expecting this to be rectified when they are fitted and operating...
It's an interesteing design and I think many would be hard pressed to do better with Cad software.

As for the footpegs, they are perfect; the 360 degree knurled design is actually sharp and
I can immagine they will offer a superior level of grip over the OEM footpegs.
The build, finish and manufacture of this part is excellent, though not the hardest piece to produce.

https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets013.jpg
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets017.jpg

The fixings look trusty and although I'm no fan of chrome/ stainless finishes They look right in place here and hell they'll do the job.
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets018.jpg
https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets021.jpg

For adjustment there are obviously atleast 6 variations,
I will have to play about with them when fitting and testing but this will provide a decent range.

https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets020.jpg

The small details are important to me both in terms of aesthetics and ride,
particularly when it was wet the foot rubbers would slip and rotate,
this inspired less confidence believe it or not, in the total control of the bike through cornering.
I will have no more of that to look forward to, look at these beauties.

https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets022.jpg
Firm, the rubber sleeve fits like a glove and won't budge.
The gear linkage rod does look something special,
I'm yet to see how well it adjusts and measure it against the standard 215mm linkage but it looks practical enough.

https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/MacKaliba/RVFrearsets023.jpg

MY VERDICT:
These rearsets are lightweight, sturdy and they look very durable,
I have to compare them face to face with the stock items but I can allready say they are honestly of a more precise build.
I prefer the styling to the SES products of a similar design and many of the upper market pieces.
Hopefully tommorow I will fit them to the bike and I'm only really left to buy a heel plate/ heat guard for the right rearset and a pressure brake light switch.

The quality is absoloutly astounding and I've got everything I was advertised,
If all goes well it will be a month or so before my bike hits the road and I get to put them through the paces...
But I'm looking forward to the feeling of a light accurate touch and concise movement.
I really cannot wait!

To pay only £100 for these plus postage really is a steal IMO,
they will complement my bike nicely and be of a nice contrast to the shiny(ish) frame and light coloured bodywork.
Like I've said detail is important to me but I think these will instantly stand out to anyone veiwing the bike.
In all ways a worthwhile investment and one I've been wanting to make since I first bought the bike allmost 11 months ago.

The moral is to keep an eye out on fleabay, if you are a bit undecided about something that has caught you're attention and
you don't know much about then try to get some second opinions and compare the item to similar such items on the web.

P.S. Look out for the RVF: Project Elisha write up resuming very soon Wink

Whorage pic of the day:

It was worth my money I say, you would'nt expect the scratches etc but like I said it's not a problem.
They feel smooth to the touch and they are definetly of better quality than the OEM rearsets....
ok maybe not absoloutly astounding, especially by your standards Craig Wink
But lovely non the less.

Hmm. Quality wise, I'd stick with OEM. I think the chunky geometric lines suit the older bikes better to, but each to their own.

My SES came in at £85 brand new - the quality was good enough to fit to my NC30 - CNC milled with a nice clear anodised finish. Friendly service too.

More pictures to come later as I've test fitted them and all is well so far.
Our resident fabricator at college has seen them and is rather happy too but we both feel the fixings could do with replacing as most of them are too short and don't have alot of contact on the thread, they are seemingly nickle plated on closer inspection and not stainless/ cromed.
If I keep the heel plate and don't opt for a tyga carbon piece then I'll have to countersink the holes as they're a bit of a loose fit, then it would pretty much be countersunk box heads all around for a flush surface.

Lastly the bolts that secure the footpegs through are a bit of a weird affair as they have no thread on the shaft for the part where the spacer sits, but then the thread starts where the lever bearing sits... if the fit was tighter then I I could sort out the freeplay so I'm probably going to hack at a high tensile bolt for the purpose, just to be on the safe side.

jackdim pointed out in the other thread posted in the workshop that these were identical to DIAMOND reasets, that retail for £195.
Therefor these are either DIAMOND rearsets or a pretty good carbon copy, I've noticed that the guy I won these from does them for various other models including the TL1000, which clearly display the DIAMOND engraving on the Hangers.
I'm not certain why these are'nt engraved as such but they look identical to the pictures I can find on the DIAMOND website, even down to the fixings.

Fixings can be replaced. I don't think they count for the overall quality so nothing happened.
Thankyou for that matt, yes that's the word I'm looking for.

daz I remember that thread actually but must have totally forgotten about it before ordering Laughing
Mine came with a little device to replace the OEM braket so I don't think I should have to much problem, apart fro mthat I just need a banjo switch.
If I do have any headaches then I'll knock something up in the egineering workshop and update ya'll.
