Hi, I posted a thing up before about a lack of power, would a rebore sort this out, how much would it cost for a yamaha rxs100 do you think, or could I do it my self? Also there are pistons on ebay and you can get sizes above standard, would this be for if the cylinder caseing thing (sorry for lack of technical knowledge) was worn or for a rebore?

Thanks

Hi

Low compression could cause a lack of power, and could be due to wear on the barrel. Could also just be worn rings or even just sticking rings.

A rebore is normally pretty cheap. You would need a new piston, and likely they are available in a couple of sizes of about 1/4mm bigger (suspect Yamaha sell them as 0.25mm and 0.5mm oversize, and suspect some pattern piston makers sell them at various sizes above that).

Pistons do vary in quality. Some aftermarket makes are fine (or even better than standard). Others are total garbage. Hence I would be tempted to pay a bit extra and buy from someone who stands by their work and has plenty of experience with 2 stroke rebores, and get the piston from them as well as getting them to do the rebore.

All theb est

Keith

Now I actually have to look out for the speed limit Wink
