I'm glad I don't pay taxes anymore (unemployed)...

I mean wtf? , plans to give a minimum £2000 trade in for used cars over 9 years old, this isn't what I pay taxes for!.
If the car industry cannot survive on its own accord it should DIE like any other business.
Printy printy? to finance this? , no wonder Ford put their prices up recently ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Maybe I'm just being short-sighted but, most people I know who own a car that's more than nine years old (particularly the ones with cars worth less than £2,000) couldn't really afford to buy a new/1-year-old car even with the £2k discount. A huge number of older cars are still worth a lot more than £2k so, I don't see it being of benefit to many people at all.
Either way, I can honestly say I'm not tempted to part with my very reliable, low mileage (under 50k) 14 year old BMW 328 and replace it with some silly little lawnmower-engined ecobox made of plastic and cardboard. I have other plans for my savings right now.
If the government wants my car off the road they can suck my *%!$.
It wouldn't surprise if next they put something in the MOT to make it harder for older cars to be passed.
On a positive note though, if you're thinking of buying a new car in the next year, it might be worth picking up a £200 banger from the paper/local garage trade-ins section, SORN'ing it and leaving it in your drive/garage/garden, etc... ____________________ Current bike - 2006 ZX6R |
