Hey, I have a yamaha rxs100, and I've read reviews and stuff and people seem to think they can get 70mph out of it(!) but I'm struggling to get 40!! I was on the duel carrige way and I was hovering around 30, I'm not sure what gear but I was at 4000 rpm; there was a bit of a head wind.

Also I'm 17 and not really a heffer, I just can't seem to get any power out it. Any clues to why?

Cheers

Hi

They should do about 70mph (and probably indicate a bit more).

You might struggle in a headwind and uphill it you just put it in top gear and expect it to accelerate. Assuming you are using the revs, then check the state of the air filter, the compression and (if removeable) the state of the exhaust baffles.

All the best

Keith

Yeh, it's weird, 'cause to my knowledge im changing alright (did only do my CBT two weeks ago but I'm pretty sure I am doing it right) and I've added baffle material (it didn't have any before) and also put a new airfilter in since I bought the bike!!

My dad thought the cylinder might be worn out, do you think that may be the answer?

Thanks

Hi

Not sure that you can replace the baffle material easily on the RXS exhaust, and baffle material in the wrong place would certainly block the exhaust up.

The cylinder could be worn (hence a compression check), but a rebore and a new piston should be pretty cheap.

All the best

Keith

I have added the material, it seems to be in the correct place looking at the picture in the manual.

Yeh, I'll look into the compression and any wear and tear in the cylinder.

Many thanks

Also, how would I got about a rebore? I've seen pistons on ebay and you can get different sizes, would this help with pressure?

And how much would a garage do a compression check for do you think?
