As long as it has a V5 registration document (and its all in order), then no MOT is not a problem.
You can get a day time mot easy (no need for lights etc).

It looks ok ... best to have someone visit it for you and check the usual:
Starts ok .. goes through the gears etc.
No deep engine noises (top end rattles are just rings or small ends).
Check that it doesnt need new tires, fork seals, chain and sprockets.
The reason I say this is, if it does need the above then it will very quickly become £200 + more expensive .... and I have seen those bikes going with new parts all round for approx £1100.

Or simply email him with your questions .... then when you turn up and its not as agreed, simply walk away and take a possible negative hit.

Speedo's no big thing for MOT - £6 one from tescos will do the job, the don't check it's working or 'owt.

If you get it, you may well be able to sell the lowering link to Marjay too! Smile

Remember, that while these bikes are fine for being used on the road, I wouldn't want to be doing too long distances on them - if nothing else because of the tyres.

As above - ask about everything you would check.
Then if there's anything dodgy, you can walk away.

Oh and yes, I'd say they are pretty decent bikes - ridden Michael J's one a few times and that was one of the things that convinced me to go 2 stroke.

Right asked him everything silky mentioned a few more bits about passing mot and history.

His reply - Hello mate everythings ok, runs fine but not new bike so usual wear and tear should be fine for Mot.

Confused Dunno.

He's said everything you've questioned is ok presumably - so you can reasonably go and look over all those things first.

Were it me, I'd probably go for it at that price on the basis it should be fairly easy and fairly cheap to fix if there are any problems that you can't see when you get there.
But then I've got a few other dirt bikes and expect to get me hands dirty anyway Smile.

the dented downpipe will affect its perormance because its a 2-stroke , shouldnt be by much but it might help you knock the price down if you want to make an offer

I'd say a dented down pipe is pretty much expected in an enduro bike of that age.
Performance will be very slightly decreased, but unless you're David Knight, I doubt it'll make a different. My 200 expansion chamber looks like someone's took a shot at it with a shotgun, yet still makes plenty enough power for the bike to be far from the limiting factor Smile.

Oh well, no harm no foul. Smile

You just made me feel guilty about not buying it, despite the fact that I can't really afford it! Wink

You dont need a speedo, to get an MOT on a motorbike. I have a motorbike with an MOT that didnt have a speedo when tested, and still doesn't.

That's a different thing from getting through a test and it being required for an MOT Wink. However in this I do believe you're correct Thumbs Up.
