Right, i will be deciding on a mortgage very shortly - just picking some brains.
Now, we have an agreement in premise for a 5.39% fixed for 5 years.
This works out to be affordable and safest route here.

But our ifa has suggested looking into a new deal - a 3 year tracker, currently 3.5%.

Personally i can see interest rates rising a fair amount by mid-end of next year.

So, who here was correct about the economic status where the gov were not that wants to predict what's going down? (i'm looking at you, ichy/keith)

People can speculate, but truth be told nobody really can predict it at the moment. The whole financial market is unpredictable right now, you'd be foolish to be certain that anything is going to happen.

Having said that, it's a safe bet to predict that house prices have a long way to fall yet. If I was thinking of buying, i'd wait another 6 months at least.
