Does this sound like its worth the £1400 price tag?

KTM

And insurance is fairly cheap for some reason... only £120 tpo or £240 tpf&T

£1400 sounds a little much for a 2001 to me, however the KTMs do seem to hold their value a little better than the Gas Gas.
Useful thing for the KTM is there's more around so parts availability is better and tends to be pretty good between models - I can stick my Husaberg supermoto wheels on either KTM and swap front wheels at least between the 200 and 690.

For a long time, most biggish 2 strokes have made around a claimed 50hp. The 300s typically make 1hp more than the 250, but more midrange.
Not a massive amount of power for a tuned 250 2 stroke to make - a RS250 makes more than that stock, however doesn't have quite the same low-down power.

If you try to ride it at the red-line everywhere, it'll be bloody quick.
However the 250s and 300s do tend to have very 'flat' power delivery, meaning that they are also easy to ride slowly, only trying to rip your arms off when you ask them to Smile.

Erm, I was going to mention about that - a 420/425 never did exist, ever, actually, I don't think as a stock bike for KTM.
You could get japanese 426s and KTM did 400s and 450s as well as bikes sold as 520s, 525s and 530s.
I'd check with him (you mentioned 425 last time I think?) as 525 seems more likely.

Ill have to check with him, He said it has a 'chrome killer' decal set? if that helps narrow it down. He doesn't know much about bikes, just bought it as a good deal, when he bought the former owners house.
