Gear lever Vibrations :-(

My bike (a 1995 kawasaki zzr 600) was bought, serviced and MOT'ed roughly two months ago and unfortunately being both busy and technically novice, i havn't got around to doing a 2 weekly/monthly check on it as im sure i should have.

I rode the bike up to Cheltenham from bristol on friday night (about 60 miles) and noticed when i arrived in cheltenham that i could feel vibrations coming through the gear lever presumably from the clutch plate/ gear box? im not 100% but i think it was only in certain gears at certain revs?

The 1st thing that crossed my mind was oil levels? but couldnt check at the time as it was pitch black. Im going to check it over and take it for a little test drive this afternoon in the hope that i can either resolve the problem or she will last back to bristol so i can take her into the garage.

Other than checking the oil are there any other things i should look out for or can any one comment on the possible cause and/or severity of the problem? thanks.
