A good word here for "Evans Cycles". I ordered a bike from these people on Sunday.

Got a phone call yesterday telling me my bike had been dispatched. I then got a phone call from the courier telling me that they were 2 minutes from my house in Chard...Errr, I had requested my bike be delivered to Coventry, as stated in my email confirmation.

To say I was pissed off was a bit of an understatement. I got on the phone to Evans Cycles, who admitted straight away that they had made a mistake, didn't bother to insult my family, nor get in a bitter argument with me over the issue and promised to have the bike delivered to me tomorrow morning. Normally a Saturday delivery would cost £30.

I know this what a company is expected to do and to be honest I wouldn't have expected anything less, but they could have easily refused to acknowledge their mistake. I was prepared for a fight over this, however I will now continue to shop with them.

Evans Cycles. Thumbs Up

I often use a company called CPC for my computer, electronic and electrical goods.

I bought my Dad an electric drill for his christmas and gave it to him on the 29th.

When he opened it, they'd sent a 110v one instead of 240v (they look almost identical, an easy mistake to make). I called their customer services to tell them.

10am the next morning, less than 24h after I called, a courier knocked on the door. He delivered the correct drill and had brought an empty box to put the wrong one in and took it away.

What bike did you get?

I got one of these recently: https://www.bikepics.com/members/x-al-x/misc/

Got a nice discount as it was the last one in stock and they wanted to get rid of it before they got the 09 models in

Thumbs Up

Think how sad the existence of this thread is: that good customer service is so rare in this country (and the likes of canvas dezign so unfortunately prevalent) that we feel it is necessary to praise it!

uh, dad had this problem with the new shed he had built + erected. its not a small thing being 16 x 14ft, so you'd expect a couple of lads to be there all day.

turned up at 2pm not 9, left in the dark at 7 and:

1. left nails + shit all over the place.
2. didnt fit 2 of the 5 agreed roof trusses, as it was dark when they left they hid 2 behind a tree in the garden
3. nails sticking out of random places
4. opening windows nailed shut???
5. fillets for inside section of windows stacked up in a corner uncut never mind unfitted.
6. roof felt horribly attched with gaps + loose ends
7. floor boards cross supported every 24 ins not every 12
8. doors + windows fitted too high, making fitting guttering impossible as 1/2 in clearance from barge boards (which were'nt vertical as agreed)
8. 22mm shiplap walls turned out to only be 19mm
9. locks (5 lever mortice main + two 12mm deadbolts for each door) vanished into the ether, crappy keep shut things whicjh is a little bar on a srew that you turn so door cant open fitted
10 general shitty workmanship, gaps, bad joints, badly fitted fixtures, ect.

ended up getting a refund only after getting trading standards involved, the guy said "probably worth more than you paid anyway, it'l go on ebay"

fucking people (/rant)

We use CPC/Farnell via the Onecall front end as one of our main suppliers here at the university. They have always been awesome in their customer support when we need to return stuff and they also offer a 14% discount for staff and students who want to buy things for themselves too (so if you work or study at a uni and Onecall are one of their suppliers, you can get some great deals)! Free next day delivery on everything too. Thumbs Up

EBC, I bought a clutch kit from them online. Within a day of fitting it one of the friction plates had fallen to pieces. I called them up and they asked me to send it back to them. They said they would pay for the postage. The next day I recieved a full new clutch kit, a set of brake pads, and a pre paid box to post the old one back in!

Top work from EBC Thumbs Up

Due to my own laziness and stupidity I allowed the date for the third service on my car to slip by over six months. When I bought the car I got a “free” service agreement thrown in pay for the first three years services and I was worried that I’d now have to pay for the third and probably most expensive one.

To compound my woe the car recently started making a seriously BAD noise from the gearbox area. A search on the internet suggested that this was probably a failed bearing on the gearbox input shaft...

...so I have a car six months out of warranty with a failing gearbox and I missed the last service. I’m screwed right?

Wrong.

To my enormous surprise and relief my local dealer Beaconsfield Honda convinced Honda UK to supply parts and pay the labour to drop the gearbox and replace all the bearings. Result!

However, Honda refused to honour the service agreement because I’d left it so long, but the service manager at the dealership offered to pay it from her budget as a gesture of goodwill!!??!! Another result!

I needed to pay for new brake pads, but effectively paying £80 for a full service, new pads and a gearbox rebuild I can definitely live with. The service should have set me back over £200 and a franchised dealer would probably charge in the region of £1500 for the gearbox work.

After my last visit to Beaconsfield Honda I was so disappointed with their service I swore never to go back. They have now successfully redeemed themselves... ...with merit. I’m impressed.

nice to see so many results that are good, mine on the other hand are cack,

had sky hd installed in august 08, box went faulty in a week, this pattern continued until last tuesday when i had my 7th thats right 7th box installed, when calling to complain i get nowhere apart from the old chestnut of "i haven't got the authority to do anything except fob you off" speech, speaking to any of the so called managers gets pretty much the same result. anyhow, the last box went and upon calling sky, i found out much to mydismay, that all the hd boxes are "refurbished but as new", now when i buy something new i want it to be new not as new, especially considering that i got mugged off and paid £150 for the hd piece of crap and now they cost a poxy £49!!. i'd also been charged £60 per call out every time i had their faulty equipment changed, talk about taking the piss!!. i got trading standards involved and sent a few strongly worded letters to sky subscriber services, i am now awaiting results 7 months on, of course, i've had to keep paying my sky bills so i can watch the telly, use the phone and keep online.

When I first got my bike, and thus needed necessary gear such as helmet, gloves, jacket etc, I ordered all my stuff from www.getgeared.com.

Unbeknowst to me, I had ordered a jacket far too small, and all other things ordered were large (correctly so).

I got a phone call at 8 in the evening from one of the staff asking if I was sure about the jacket size, because he figured since everything else was large, it was disproportionate to have ordered a small jacket. After asking a few questions he decided that it would be best if the jacket was two sizes larger.

The shipment arrived the next morning, and the jacket was a perfect fit.

I thought that was absolutely sterling customer service, it's the small things like that which will bring customers back time and time again, and I anyone who asks me will certainly get a recommendation to check them out.

Thats how you run a business Conrad.
