I want to get a better MC, the one on the S4 is known for being pants, the brakes need to be bled often to keep there effectiveness.

I'm confused buy the ratios what would be best for Street use?

19/20 or 19/18, What about getting a brake light switch fitted?

Or you should get an AP racing m/c they have an adjustable m/c ratio then you can choose what suits you best. Thumbs Up

The new brembos do that but they are way to dear. As are the AP ones, I'm gonna get it on ebay for about £130. I was even considering just getting one off a 675 or similar.

Question

First I`ve ever heard of it.
My S4`s brakes were brilliant.

Same here. Mine are totally awesome. Two fingered stoppies are perfectly possible.

You can use a Banjo bolt brake light switch.

The brakes are awesome but I find as do serveral others on the Speed Four that in a month or 2 the brakes go spongey and pants. Hopefully a brembo MC should sort that, I have heard you can get a pressure switch but I have also heard they are pants and dont work well.

I have a brembo 19x20 radial fitted to my extremely heavy ZX9R. Combined with GSX1400 calipers I can stoppie the thing and out break my brother on his ZX6R.

Its without doubt the best mod I have ever made, and the break light switch is in the banjo bolt and cost £7!

You can pick up a Brembo M/C for £110ish on ebay.

What kinda mileage were you doing on it Chris?

I did around 2K over a few weeks, didnt really notice much fade, and I know they hadnt recently been done.

Fantastic brakes as standard, IMO. Thumbs Up

Though my zx6r's brakes now out-do the triumphs, proper braided hoses, fresh fluid, three pot calipers and new sintered pads. Twisted Evil

I think about 8k in a year, The S4s brakes are shit hot and they have braided lines as standard, in that 8k I bled my brakes 4/5 times. The TDM brakes haven't needed doing in 10k (I did change the lines for braided ones half way through) There are a few threads about it on speedfour.org.

The other thing I'm worried about is getting a mirror clamp and fitting it on the clip on.

i bought my 19x20 brembo mc from A&r racing for £125 new, definately an investment as i have taken mine through and fitted to 3 different bikes now without any problems and every time they improve the brakes no end. on the track where you really squeeze the lever HARD is where you see the benefits most. on the road I have crashed at low speed because i grabbed the lever slightly too hard form loss of concentration as they are very sensitive and responsive.
