https://www.touringted.com/preparing-the-bike

As on this XT600E where do I buy sheep skin? , I went around a few local markets in Bury and Bolton and all I could find were sheep skin looking but not actually real sheep skin but artificial toilet surrounds and a few sheep skin coats.

Anybody know of a decent souce I only want a smallish one as the back of my seat will be covered in luggage ,

A few farther questions:

Is it water proof (do they get squishy? , surely sheep don't get squishy?)

Are they actually comfortable compared to Gel seat pads?.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I used to have one on my 1500 Wing. It was really comfy. I never had a problem with it getting squishy, if it got wet I'd take it in the house and let it dry over a chair back. I used dog shampoo on it when it got dirty Laughing

Oh, and I got it from Ikea, £30 if I remember right.

Itchy, I just went and checked, I still have the sheepskin. This is it on my wifes Bandit to give you an idea of the size. If you have no luck getting one locally, I'll flog you this one for a tenner + postage. Let me know if you are interested.

You have probably reamed your wife on that one so all he has to pay is tenner+postage+lifetime of unsettling thoughts. (Oh and cleaning costs to wash away the shame)

Seen quite a lot of ratted bikes with sheepskin seats, just ask any rat enthusiasts you know.

Price seems a bit on the steep side.

Maybe try one of the many mill shops you see in market towns.
