No air filter! help please!

Hi all,bought my nsr 125 on saturday so desided to check the air filter earlyer and to my surprise there wasn't one,also there is a pipe thats connected the the front of the filter box, this was off!.
Is there any reason why it would be like this?

Aslo can anybody advise me on what air filter i should get?

Sounds like a scavanging pipe, running from the engine to the air box. The same pipe had been taken off on my Superdream for some reason

Runs slightly better with it on.

I've only seen conical air filters for the NSR so far, which year do you have?

2001 right? Like this air filter? £6.80 to you guv, strike a light, can't go wrong for that money.

I am also going to suggest dropping into Hein Gericke and picking up a km/h to mph mechanical convertor. The unit is less than £15, is stupidly easy to fit and gives great piece of mind everytime you see a Police car or speed camera.
