The missus has said she'd like to go to Jersey this year... so I'm contemplating three days in Jersey, two in Guernsey.

I'm reliably informed this will be more than enough time to ride slowly around both islands at their lovely speed limit (will only need first and maybe second gear).

Any suggestions on bike friendly places to say/things to see/stuff to avoid? Anything worth knowing about going on the ferry?

Cheers!

Never thought id see a post about Jersey in the touring section Very Happy. 3 days should be enough to see most things and still have enough time to ride around and enjoy the views. 40mph seems to be more of a guide then a speed limit as most people (especially bikers) exceed it and the police dont pay a blind bit of notice. Around the north coast there is a really nice twisty road with clifftop views.

After seen the coppers fighting drunks on Street Crime UK I won't mess with them while I'm there!

Any good hotels or similar suited for bikes? What is the accomodation on the ferry like in terms of bikes? Do you just plonk it in with the rows of cars? Is there anything to secure it to in case of rough seas?

Being a local ive never stayed in one of the hotels but most of the good ones will have secure parking. On the ferry if the sea is rough they strap the bikes down. Condor if i remember rightly have a special area just for bikes as alot of them come and go in the summer.

Back in the days when my bike was the push-bike variety I managed to cycle round bothe Jersey and Guernsey in that time frame so you'll have loads of time! I went from Poole as it's very close and took the Condor, as I'm rubbish getting seasick on the ferries Sick

I contacted the Tourist Board for my accommodation and they were very helpful. There are some great places to see especially if you're into history as there is a lot of WWII stuff and then I really loved the Zoo! The coast is great but the water is still pretty cold.

Have a lovely time!

Hows her geography? Take her to the Isle of Man instead - she might not notice the difference Laughing

I have cycled round Jersey in under 3 hours so 3 days to do both islands is plenty Laughing

I would stay at this hotel near town https://www.jerseyhotels.com/hotel_listings/l0022.php
Not far from the St.Helier (the only town) if you fancy a few drinks/dinner, as well as the beach.

Otherwise I would stay in either Gorey, St.Aubins, St.Brelades or St.Helier each of these parishes are right next to the beach and have the best public transport and nearby amenities.

As for things to see on the Island by bike, I would get yourself to the Tourist office and see what takes your fancy.
