Ive found a bike i like right and the seller has told me its has its valves reground for max performance,
its a bit of a stunt bike as they go,

Whats the usual cause for valves to need to reground?
Is it worth going with this bike, or the engine now basically shagged because the valves have had to be redone?
Cheers

From the advert it seems he means they were leaking slightly so had them lapped in to make them seal properly again (the bandit i assume?).

Could be they have never been adjusted and they got a bit burned.
Never hurts to regrind them, to get a nice seal.

It would make me look at the whole bike a lot closer. As it could be its noot been too well looked after...
Either that or the last person is a performance freek, and wanted to eek out every last 0.0001 bhp he could....

Why would you regrind the valves on a blandit 600 for performance reasons? Something went caca in the engine and it needed a major rebuild. Nowt wrong with that - but why the heck is the owner lying about it?

If I had a bike and it wasn't fast enough, I'd do a big bore, or I'd sell it and buy a faster bike. I wouldn't regrind the valves... unless they were knackered.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
