 |
|
Hi folks, this isn't much of a question, but the trusted Haynes manual reveals no secrets.
I have a question about the carburettor, namely, the pilot screw.
Does unscrewing the pilot screw richen the mixture, or does it make it leaner?
Oh, by the by, it's a 2002 model carb.
Cheers, all |

awesome, cheers
actually, maybe you guys could help me with something else, the root of a problem associated with the pilot screw.
Basically, the bike wasn't revving very well at all, and wouldn't go at full throttle at all.
I was aware that the main jet is responsible for the fueling at 3/4 throttle onwards, however, adjusting the pilot screw to a richer mixture has had a very good impact on the pick up and full throttle positions.
Can anyone explain this to me?
Cheers. |

There are 3 stages in a carb. First is the pilot screw, the final is the main jet, those you have identified already. The remaining stage is the 'needle', which is actually the middle stage.
As to why one effects the other, well you are not simply switching from one to the other, so ALL are doing something all the time. Its just the overall effects of each are lessened or increased depending on a given throttle position. ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |
