My rear brake light switch has stopped working and I have an MOT tomorrow. The trouble is I can't pick up my bike until tomorrow morning so will have no time to sort it.

Obviously, with a non-working brake light it will fail, so can I tape up all the lights and switchgear to get it through on a 'daytime MOT'?

I think you still need a working brake light to get a daytime mot.

I'd just like to add I did try calling the MOT place but they are shut on Mondays.

Make sure that you tape up your light switches, as well as all the lights.

Why not just fix it and then get it MOT'd then you won't have the expense of putting it through again to ride at night.

You don't need to MOT it again. The daytime record is just an advisory.

All the best

Because I can't get to the bike until tomorrow when I have to get it to the MOT and also I only ever ride it during the day - I don't fancy doing any greenlaning with a headlight powered by a candle.

I'll fix it at some point before the next MOT.

When we did Salisbury plain, that's pretty much what I had, well, a fairly-light (literally, one of those cheap units with small house hold bulbs in).
Made it 'interesting', though Ste had a better light, so I just tried to use his light instead.)

Keep umming and ahing about getting the 200 road registered (another thread reminded me it'd be 'interesting' with supermoto wheels that I've got sitting around Smile ). It's already got a horn, so hopefully I should just need to bolt a numberplate on and that's it.
