RE-Edit for simplicity.

What's the local councils stance on claims for damages?
I was out riding locally and hit a BITCH of a pothole and popped a fork seal.

Regards

Bit too simple, might need to know the local council to find out their policy Wink

Usually if it is of a certain depth and has previously been reported then they will entertain the claim.

Google is your friend Wink

However take pics of the pothole if you decide to claim, before they get the chance to repair Wink

Very helpful. I Didn't realise they'd be so actively open about it.

Many thanks Thumbs Up

Now you've been potted you will just have to report road damage when you see it.
If we all report it then the holes will be filled sooner. Maybe..... Smile

they will kick and scream to get out of paying for it,

hit a nasty one in the car which did a lot of damage ten weeks ago and they are still trying to drag it out Evil or Very Mad Middle Finger

there are 10 or so other folks making the same claim..

you gotta prove they are liable first Wink

Sorry, a single pot hole blew your forkseal? Seems much more likely it was well on the way out already.

Having grown up in Papua New Guinea, I've always taken them to be another thing to be avoided, such as bricks dropped from builders trucks, low flying birds and young children.

Somerset council will pay (happened to my car wheel before). But if it's an A road, then they're not under the control of the council and you have to go to the Highways Authority (I think that's what it's called). So if you're going to hit a pothole, hit one in a carpark or in town Very Happy
