Got a leak that I really really have to finally get sorted.
It's coming from the topend smoewhere but it's so vague as the 'oil patch' seems to be at the top left quater of the engine near the rocker gasket and exhaust manifolds.

It could be the rocker cover gasket but frankly it looks fine.
Anyone else know anything in that area that could be leaking?

Kind regards

Probably the rocker cover gasket, not sure if it's possible to have oil coming out the exhaust ports without other major problems. Oil can leak around the head gasket too.

I belive a method of finding the leak is to clean the engine, cover it in talk or something and rev/ride it untill you notice a damp patch. Not tried this though...

Thanks.
Reluctant to think it's the head G, don't know why just doesn't seem it as the leak seems to be in the area above the HeadG.

Sounds like a common problem on old bikes, the rocker head cover gasket shrinks and oil dribbles out all the way down the front left of the engine - that's because it's where the oil pools when the bike is on it's sidestand. Thus the leak mysteriously stops when the bike is ridden or on a centre stand.

Can sometime be fixed by tightening the head cover or by slavering it sealant, but best to stump up for a new gasket if you can.

Hey thanks. This sounds spot on and offers some explanation.

Really appreciate that. Thumbs Up

My NTV used to weep oil from the rear cylinder gasket, as the amount of oil was insignificant I ignored it for nigh on 3 years.

Yeh somewhat like mine but mines slightly more irritating as I find myself having to stick quarter of litre of fresh oil in every month or so to top the old girl back up.
