Basically now push has come to shove I'm having second thoughts on selling the YZ/giving up MX, so going to sit on the decision for a while.

I openly apologize to jdloyalroyal who showed genuine interest, we were actually all set to do the trade tomorrow.

Part of me hopes jdloyalroyal gets a bike and I have an MX noob to go play with!! Cool .. I think that is a large part of what has been missing form my MX experience to date ...

Why don't you try trail riding or enduro instead of full on MX?

There aren't really any places round here where I could play and NOT get my collar felt sooner or later. Also, simply burning round a field will prolly a bit dull after a while ...

I might try out some less daunting tracks though!! Thumbs Up

Both the ones I have used are a bit daunting for noob ....

I had a look on the net for just that after posting this thread for 'lesser' tracks actually. Smile

I like the idea of enduro, but not as a replacement to MX, just as another thing to play on Thumbs Up ... might get an enduro bike too!! I do like the idea of getting something road legal so I can go oop-norf and do some proper greenlaining ...

Enduro is not something I drooled over as a kid .. MX was ... not really put any though into enduro ...

As I've mentioned before - your bike will be fine for enduro.
Some of the big 'extreme enduros' are currently being won on the 144SX - a big bored 125 motocross bike (and one I'd be quite tempted by if I had the cash/space/skill Smile ).

When and where is your next enduro G? Remember it has to be one where it doesn't have to be road registered ... so all on private land

All the Hare and Hounds I do are on private land (my 200EXC isn't road registered either). If you're free this weekend, 'Enduroland' is on at Adstone - good course with lots of variation. https://enduroland.co.uk/
Not competitive, but similar level of riding, etc.

My next competitive one I'm planning to do is on this one on 19th March: https://www.chilternhillsenduroclub.co.uk/Lane%20End.htm .

Incidentally, I'm planning to still get down to Tonymoto occasionally as it was lots of fun, though schedule is a bit busy at the moment.

There are enduros closer to you, but forget the details of the clubs etc.

Lol there is no proper offroading up north. There isn't much around here... and there is none in Scotland.

I'm busy this Sunday, but lane end might be do-able!! Smile

I take it that ACU affiliation won't get me past the AMCA charge?

I can't actually see how much the event itself is (admittedly, just been clicking around than reading thoroughly).

I live on the south coast, therefore oop-norf includes 99.9% of he country .. if there is anywhere to ride then its oop-norf!! Laughing

Nope, AMCA and ACU are 'rivals' as such. Neither are that great Sad.
The event costs £45 + £5 for motocross tyres. However, you then have a (one off per year) £15 AMCA registration fee - new for this year unfortunately.
It's not too bad a price for four hours of riding time really. Other clubs are a bit cheaper, but this one is 'friendly' and I like their 2 x 2hour format, rather than a single 3 hour event.

Looks like there are quite a few entered already, must get my entry in come payday!

That's 65 smakers in total 1-off entry for me then (plus the fuel to get up there)!! Shocked

Compared to a trackday etc, that is cheap as chips I know, but seems a bit of a rip for burning round the countryside!! Laughing .. I could do 2 full Tonymoto/Cusses Gorse days for less than that ...

p.s. I saw the MX tyre pull-down box ... I just assumed that was to buy them ... not entry prices ...

As I say, there's cheaper and more local ones to you, but not sure of the details. Cotswold enduro club do them over a wider area and are cheaper I think, but can't think of any others - though found there is a Reading based one.

Do you do any southern ones then? Some around the Farnborough/Alton area would be closer ... to be honest, the distance and cost of lane end isn't prohibitive, I'm just tight and lazy and hate paying more and travelling more than I have to for stuff!! Very Happy ...

Oh and trials cost me ~£15 to enter ... I think that has made me extra tight on offroad stuff!! Very Happy

Trials is so cheap!! Smile

I think a few of us are thinking about entering some competitions of some sort. In my case it's not with any hope of winning but just for a laugh. I'll probably spend most of my time at on the floor at the side gasping for breath.

I know Michael J is up for it, Silky and Philo will as well. Some nice Hare & Hounds or something not too tricky.

Just need my other bike first...

I think this year I am going to have to take it all a bit more 'seriously'.
ie:
Gym / running etc.
Training on some tracks like EnduroLand
2nd Bike (stroker)
Stop eating 7 mars bars a day

First Hare and Hounds I did was on my 690, so not having a tarty-diddy stroker is no excuse Razz.
Need to get the KTM poked and officially serviced so I can have it as a 'back up' bike - especially as I'm missing enduroland tomorrow because of a broken exhaust Sad.
Still managed just over halfway down the rankings on the 690 when I was horribly unfit and the track was about the least suitable of any they do! (Ok, lots of people dropped out of that one.)

Mars bars give you energy, but going to the gym would help I suspect Smile.

A big bored KTM - that must be the most unreliable bike in the world Laughing

This is actually a 'factory' design... my 200 is basically a 125 with a bigger cylinder and piston!
They aren't actually too bad. I've be more cocerned by the people that make 750 and 800cc Husabergs. They have an even worse reputation for reliability, are very highly tuned, then you bump it up 100-150cc.
Or, similarly, those that put turbos on them, for snow use!
