ebay items selling for too cheap.

Bought bike jeans for £110 brand new, just sold them as i needed the funds & they went for £45 minus ebay/paypal fees so £42, not a very happy bunny. I'm tempted to refund the buyer & just keep the jeans, i can live with negative feedback but has anyone every done this?

Not bothered if it makes me a cnut as i'm the one losing out.

but sellers who do that peticular thing or moan or are shitty with you because youve won a item for a good price or wont give you the item as you won at that price are the people who shouldnt use auction sites, if your putting a auction up that you dont want to go low start the starting price where you would like to sell them..

Same with ebayers who start bikes at 0.99 but there reserve is at £1000 so so annoying..

I sold a race can aswell, lost £30 on that but not going to refund the buyer. Just the jeans were at a ridiculous price.

I wouldn't do it myself no because I only do buy it now auctions. If you put the item up with no reserve then you have to face the consequences of your actions I'm afraid. Or at least you should do.

Not very nice thing to do as the buyer thinks they are getting a bargin and I agree with tutton here you should really have put a proper starting price on it that wuld be the minum you would except.

You could say they got lost in the post after a while and refund without a bother.

Your own fault for not putting a reserve on the item. (i never do, but my items go for what they end at, and all start at 99p, if i expect 50 quid, and it goes for 12 quid, then so be it)

Could say you notice item it damaged, but if you won an auction, you would expect to receive the item.

That is what a reserve price is for, if you don't set one, and try to fuck about after the auction has ended, then you don't deserve to be on eBay.

It's a shitty thing to do becuase you've got options (rseves etc) to prevent being ripped off.

It's not the buyer's fault he got a bargain - it's yours for not making use of your options.

So, I'm afraid, you've just got to bend over and do the right thing.

If everyone on ebay was like you, then it wouldn't be worth going on there. Sometimes you pay the normal price and sometimes you get bargains. That's what brings people onto ebay in the first place. Man up and give it to him for a bargain.

Oh I missed that bit. No one likes buying something, and then having to sell it for a lot cheaper. That's why I always keep my stuff

However, ebay is what it is, and you have to expect that you will only get a small percentage of what you paid.

Yes you should feel like you have lost out, but then if you decided not to buy it in the first place, you would have not had the trouble.

With eBay as a seller, your options are:-

1. List the item at 99p, and just accept what it sells for.
2. List the item at 99p, and put a reserve on your lowest acceptable price.
3. List the item at the lowest price you'll accept it for.
4. List the item as a Buy It Now at the price you want, no offers.
5. List the item as a Buy It Now at the price you want, but take offers.
6. List the item at 99p, and shill bid it up to what you want it to go for. Only works if someone wants it for that price, and you can end up buying your own stuff.
7. Change your mind after the auction closes, throw toys out of pram, and either pull the "sorry, but I just noticed it's broken" line, or don't ship it, keep the money, close the account, be an all round arse.

I prefer 1, 3 and 6.

I'm not sure why you're so surprised. Any second hand clothing is more or less worthless. Even if there were brand new with tags you'd expect to take at least a 25% hit, worn once and that goes to around 50%. Just the way it is.

When I sell something and I think I should get 'X' amount of money I will put a reserve. Yes you pay a bit more, but it saves loosing a good item for really cheap.
I want to put my Arlen ness pants up for sale because there too big for me now - Worn handful of times - Yet I know I wont get anywhere near the £250 I paid for them
