Just flogged the mountain bike (most expensive thing I own!) and the spare cage to free up a bit of cash and save a bleeding fortune on insurance. Took out a small loan, bought a Picasso to get 'the clan' around and thought I'd treat myself to a pair of motorised wheels for when I just can't be arsed cycling to work!
May I present you the most frugal consumer of my funds to date...

Laugh, cry, jibe and giggle to your hearts content! I bought it for £350, I was paying £41 a month to insure the cage, now £55 a year! £80 a month on fuel now probably 27 pence and tax is so pathetic I'm still wondering why they bother to even charge it!
Obviously I won't be getting the same satisfaction as i did from the 636 but the reality is, with a second child about to make an appearance, a day out riding simply isn't going to happen. My commute to work is only 6 miles and my only 'fun' rides are all along tight country lanes so I probably won't be all that much slower than on the DR anyway.
I'm still in shock how cheap these things are, have you seen the parts prices? And, the chances are, it won't lose a penny of value for years if I keep it clean and straight. Bargain, with a capital B! ____________________ "THOSE WHO RISK NOTHING, DO NOTHING, ACHIEVE NOTHING, BECOME NOTHING." |

Well, if anyone takes the mick then they are certainly not a gentleman (or a lady).
I think that if I had to sell all of my bikes and my car for financial reasons I'd be pissed off. But I wouldn't be livid. Why? because I'd still have my MZ which is great fun. It cost me £270 so it wouldn't be worth me selling it, and it does about 50mpg. And it is also a total hoot! Of course, the kind of fun you get from it is not the same as the kind of fun you get from my speed four for example, but you can thrash it within an inch of its life, you can flick it from side to side and you can grin from ear to ear while you are doing it. I imagine the CG isn't too different. You can get pegs down, weave in and out of traffic and it doesn't matter that you can't easily break the national speed limit, or that certain snobbish bikers will look down their noses at you because you're having a great time without having to risk your life or your license.
Back to the MZ again, It brakes well, it corners surprisingly well, its comfortable, its practical, it looks cool (in a geeky sort of way) and its economical. What more could you ask? (apart from a mental powerband and amazing track performance perhaps!)
Just remember, a third class ride is better than a first class walk!
I can guarantee that you'll have great fun on your CG! Enjoy! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |
