I want to change my faired hornet to a naked one to do this I will have to change the speedo. At the moment the clocks are all standard and read the correct miles but when I change it then it will go back to zero will this cause problems when I go for MOT ?

Only on personal experience I changed the NTV speedo 3 times each time showing lower miles than previously, I took my old set of clocks along to the MOT though and each of the MOT testers didn't bat an eyelid about it. Its a bigger issue when you sell it than anything else in that telling them it is the miles on the clock when really it is a higher number is an attempt to defraud the buyer.

There are a couple of solutions to this though , ie if it is digital like the one on my CBR you can get it reprogrammed , a dodgy car dealer around here reprograms the ODO readings and nobody trusts him.

Or you can do it the old fashioned way , ie get thee a drill attach it to the speedo drive and turn it over until it clocks the correct figure, that said the CBR which is the daddy of the hornet runs off the gear box rather than off the front wheel drive.

It's fine to change the clocks and show different mileage as long as you aren't doing it to defraud anyone. I've seen bikes MOTd with no mileage indicators at all, just simple speedometers.
