Hi

I'm terrible at electronics power , voltage and other electrics on bikes and thus I'm asking help here.

I'm looking into charging AA batteries off my bike I want the capability to charge X8 AA batteries at any one time off my bike battery (while the bike is being run of course as I'm going to splice a relay into the cigarette adaptor).

My question is this.

If I'm charging X8 2100mah or 2500mah AA batteries say on a 2 or a 4 hour recharge cycle so says the packaging, then how many erm watts or amps is being sucked out of my battery or generator?.And how adverse the effect of the charging will be?

I'm fairly certain that this will be significantly lower than a set of heated grips being what 12VDC at 55watts?.

Can anybody confirm this? ,

Thanks.

I'm not amazing at power but when looking at my fast charger it uses 1.7A to charge 4xAA batteries in one hour.

Running from a 12V battery that would be using 20.4W. Obviously it would depends on your own chargers current draw to work out what its using. I imagine if the bike is running when you are charging the batteries it should be ok, I can't think of any damage you could cause bar maybe shortening the life of your battery a little due to extra strain on it.
