I've seen this bike on autotrader on the cheap. Not really worried about cosmetics but does it seem ok? Don't really know much about these bikes

Personally I'd rather spend £500 or so more and get a 1999-2000 600cc.

But otherwise I've heard and read the VFR400s are reliable as you'd expect from Honda, are quite quick for an entry-level sporty bike and good handling. Although it does drink fuel a bit and is uncomfy on longer rides.

Looks alright. Price is good.

VFR's are reliable. Had a few niggles with the one I'm riding atm but that's down to wear and tear. And the exhaust being made of cheese. I do have good fun times on it often and have ridden up to Edinburgh (from just west of London) and then down to Newcastle and back down.

Definately have a look if you can though

Just having another look at the picture it looks like the front fairing has been replaced - crash? it cant be anything else

got myself a VFR400 a few weeks ago, realy nice bike, sounds pukkas, havnt been on it get so cant comment on the ride.
But just spent the entire weekend fitting a 33bhp restriction kit to it, and tell ya what it was a huge pain! absolutely near impossible getin the carbs off and putting them on again, iv left it now though cuz im waiting for a new airfilter.
If you ever want to work on it i would recommend a garage! i sure will pay someone next time! saves all the hastle. People who buy these for track bikes must be insane or have no idea what a bitch they are to work with (or maybe its just me?XD)

They are hard to work on. Changing the spark plugs is bloody annoying never mind carbs. Oh and you need a VFR specific plug wrench. Gay.

But otherwise, awesome little bikes. I'm 6 2" btw in case you were wondering

And crashed? Most likely. Can't think of many 400's that haven't been crashed. Bar craigs23's...

TBH I've been looking at Hornets as well BUT my problem is that if I buy now it will have to be near to 1k basically cheap as chips, if I wait till near september'ish i'll have about 2k to spend. I'm not sure what to do really

Get the bike you want.

If you needed a commuter than yes go for it, but since you have a bike, wait a lil longer. I looked around for ages for what bike I wanted to have. Settled on a Hornet. Looked around for 6 months I believe.
