Well it's the re-test and wish me luck all. Thanks to McJamweasel and matchcbr for the parts I needed (eventhough they should be thanking me for filling their pockets Very Happy ). Anyway really, really hope it passes what with the weather being warm and dry (well here anyway). Also if it passes, I can concentrate all of my time on the Gixxer Cool . Fingers crossed!

Way-hay, it passed! I know it ain't anything special but the luck I have with my bikes, that is a big thing! For example on the way home from the MOT centre my speedo decided it didn't like me anymore and suddenly went to 0 from 60! See what I mean, I can win! Rolling Eyes

Well I decided I'd have a victory ride to work this morning and what did I get... Torrential rain and wind! Still better than a slow bus, that is until your chain decides to come off! Though it was a little slack. I really wanna just forget this week.

Stupid naive question, but with a brand new bike, when do you get the first MOT? Same thing for a full service, after how many miles with a brand new bike is it required?

An MOT is not needed for 3 years after date of first registration.

A new bike will want servicing at about 1,000 miles. This will just be an oil change, and checking everything is correct. After that, service intervals will vary for different bikes. Big fur strokes will be about every 8,000 miles, little two strokes will need stuff doing more often.

3 years for an MOT from new. My Honda four stroke is serviced every 4k miles after the first service which is usual, think Yamaha are now every 6k miles.
