I'm in the market for some leather summer sports gloves, with a good level of feel and not too much bulk. The catch however, is they need to be waterproof. Not water resistant.

Bulky winter gloves are a total no no; already have those.

I've been looking at the halvarssons state, but was advised they wouldnt suit my long thin fingers, and instead to try out some 'held' gloves.

Any recommendations?

Good thread. I bemoan the change over between winter and summer gloves. To often getting cold hands because I hate winter gloves. So a set of light-weight, non gauntlet, waterproof gloves would be a plus.

I've got the older version of those, A* tech road GTX, looks like the same glove but with a different cuff design. They are substantially warmer than standard summer gloves but sacrifice little feel for it, even though they are gortex calling them water proof is probably stretching it a little though, light rain isn't an issue at all, but I've been caught out in heavy rain for extended periods and they did wind up getting soaked through in the end.

To be fair though, the only gloves I've found that really do keep my hands dry and reasonably warm regardless of whats coming down are the Jet road GTXs, and they are far far bulkier.

A* Tech Road. It's very good in showers and fog, decent enough in the winter BUT never been caught out - i got mine off ebay for 60 quid; can't remember the seller but they were doing a stock clearance. It's a nice glove, no where near as hard as my GP plus and there's a lot of articulation in the fingers and cuffs for good feel.

The A stars are a fair way out of my budget right now, and the teknic lightning's are taking my fancy Smile

Wooly, how do you find the fit of the teknics? Are the fingers long or short, and do they taper? Are they waterproof, and do they give a nice direct feel to the bars?

Unexpectedly got a pair of Racer sport Shorts this morning for £36 = less than half the RRP as they were selling them off. Not waterproof but not silly air holes and a much better glove/fit that what I have now. I will rub in some stuff to softern them a bit an give them some water protection. Kangaroo palms!!! wtf?

For me a summer glove has to be totally vented.

Stick your winter gloves in your ruck sack, that's what I do.

I bought some from them earlier on this year and they are a well made glove. Sizing is a bit on the small size. I got large, and they are a tightish fit and i have not got big hands...

I have a set of A* winter gloves that are actually very thin and I use them for spring/autumn. I think they are SMT or similar, can't find a pic at the moment. They don't have the hard knuckle protection etc but they are excellent gloves and weren't expensive at all.

Cheers

I love kangaroo leather.

So soft Drooling and you don't have to break the gloves in.

Dont put kangaroo leather in the microwave, it does funny things to it.

Try to try some halversons gloves on, in case they do fit. I'm a big fan of mine (think they're 'dinos' or something) they definatley fit your criteria, and only cost me about 45 quid, great gloves.
