Increased surface area to lose heat from at the edge, but you'd lose swept area from the face and area to lose heat from the face too.

sorry for the hijack, but i have a question with regards to wavy discs,

are they really any better than circular discs and why or is it just an aesthetics thing??

They are meant to offer a greater area for you to lose heat from, and have a "pad cleaning" property. I have no idea what a pad cleaning property is but there you are.

Personally I think they are just for the tart value, but then again they use them on WSS bikes so if normal discs are better by are WSS using waveys?

Probably makes very little difference to be honest.
