Basically im looking into getting into Greenlaning, a couple of family friends i know do it, and im interested.

Im probably just gonna get a banger, and do it up as a project bike, what kind of bike would you recomend?

Been looking at DT125's and CR250's, but im quite new to biking

Any help would be appreciated.

Rob from Cumbria

you will probably spend so much money doing up an old banger as it costs to buy a slightly newer bike with the money.

I would suggest an XR250 for £1200 ish.
Or, if you are confident enough on a bike, then a steel framed (1999 ish) WR400 gives you a lot of bike for the same money.

eg:

A good one of these will cost approx £1200:

This is worth £1200 ish:

What about an XT350? wouldn't keep up with the XR's and WR's but cheap and loads of spares on ebay. I've just completed a rebuild on one, bought it dirt cheap, learnt loads on the way and doesn't stand me a fortune.

Where about in cumbria are you?
